At 1,943 feet, Crater Lake is the deepest and clearest lake int eh United States and Oregon’s only national park. Crater Lake was formed when Mt. Mazama imploded nearly 8,000 years ago, leaving a huge hole called a caldera. Over many years, rainfall and snow melt filled the caldera leaving the intense blue water we see today.
In addition to the lake, the region around Crater Lake is infamous for its pristine waterways, each unique in their own way, and the year-round outdoor recreation opportunities.
